This year's festival was
a great success. We counted over 4000 guests which is the highest number we had to date. We thank the City of Port Coquitlam for suppor. We also want to thank all our Volunteers, without their help
this event could not have taken place.
Port Coquitlam’s 16th
annual Polish Festival will take place in a new location this year, at the new Port Coquitlam Recreation Center Plaza. Look for red and white flags, upbeat Polish folk and pop music and the smell of
pierogies and sausage wafting through downtown Port Coquitlam!
The festivities are
organized as usual by the Polonez Tri-City Polish Association under the new leadership of President McLaren and Vice-President Mazurek and the long-term membership which has been active in Port
Coquitlam for 30 years. Last year’s festival attracted larger crowds than ever before, and this year’s will be organized in a larger area to better accommodate our visitors and allow more room for
eating and viewing.
The entire event is free
and has an abundance of entertaining performances, great food, polish beer and fun for all ages. There will be plenty of delicious food such as pierogies, barbequed sausages, hunter’s stew, potato
pancakes, ham hocks and famous Polish cakes & pastries. Parents will be able to enjoy some Polish Beer while children can participate in folk art workshops. The artistic program will run
continuously from 1pm until 7:30 pm and will include Polish Folk Dance ensembles in beautiful costumes, the White Eagle Band from Victoria, and many talented soloists. At 7:30pm there is an outdoor
dance party that will continue until 9:00pm. There are also vendors selling arts, crafts, jewelry & much more at the marketplace. Our raffle prizes are bountiful and well-stocked with items from
these local vendors.
Globetrotters might be
interested to learn about the city that we are featuring this year, Zakopane, which is a very beautiful and well-known travel location.
